What happens when someone scans?

Scanning opens the public PDF link. The viewer may show the document in a browser or offer a download, depending on the phone and hosting service. TapX does not upload, host or convert the PDF.

Have these details ready

  • A PDF hosted on your website or another service with a stable public link.
  • View permissions that allow the intended reader to open it without your account.
  • A document that is readable on a small screen and reasonably quick to load.

How to create your pdf / brochure qr code

  1. Publish the document

Upload the PDF through your chosen hosting service. If you use Google Drive, choose a viewer link with the appropriate access. Do not paste a local computer path or a private editing link: those cannot give an unfamiliar customer access.

  2. Test the public link first

Open the address in a signed-out or private browser window. If it asks for permission, fix sharing before making the QR. Compress a large document and check that small print, contact details and prices remain legible.

  3. Create the PDF link QR

Product brochure is selected below. Paste the public document URL, optionally add a business name and logo, and review the destination in the live preview. For school resources, the School & education option also accepts a public link.

  4. Download and test the finished print

Use SVG for brochure artwork, PNG for digital sharing or the A5 PDF sign for a counter. The downloadable A5 sign is a printable sheet containing the QR; it is distinct from the PDF document your readers will open after scanning.

Before you share or print

  • Keep the document URL available and permissions correct throughout the printed material's life.
  • A public QR is unsuitable for documents that should stay confidential or limited to a private class.
  • Check the destination after replacing a file; some services issue a different link for a new upload.

A static QR stores fixed content. Read the free creator guide for expiry, privacy and print-format details, or get help from TapX.

PDF / brochure QR code: questions answered

Can I upload my PDF directly to TapX's free creator?

No. Upload or publish it with your chosen service, then paste its public link into Product brochure. The creator makes the QR in your browser without uploading the PDF.

Does the QR store the entire PDF?

No. It stores the URL, so readers normally need an internet connection and permission to view the linked document.

Can a teacher use this for learning resources?

Yes, for resources intended to be publicly accessible. Use the School & education option or a brochure link, test access as a reader, and keep private student records out of public documents.
